I’ve been playing Santouri for many years under the direction
of Yianni Roussos but only recently realized how much fun it is for
Middle Eastern music with my association with Khafif. I also seem
to be cursed with carrying around heavy instruments (my mother bought
me my first accordion at the age of 5 – and yes, it was red!). I’ve been involved with Balkan music and dance for over 30 years in many forms. Currently I perform with Zvezda, a Pittsburgh based Balkan singing ensemble; Eastern Watershed, a Klezmer, Balkan, Polka, anything-goes band; and also the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra; and the Pittsburgh Savoyards. |
And yes, I do sleep! |
