My first experience with formal dance began at four...with a
pink tutu. Since then I have enjoyed spending time dabbling with a variety of other dance forms including jazz, ballet and musical theater. However, it wasn't until I saw the expression and character of middle eastern dance that I was certain I had found my place. Tribal fusion dance for me is my way of weaving a tale. With skirts and tassles, gestures and notes, colorful and delicate silk threads are intricately spun and woven, shimmied and interlaced around a strong musical fabric. Working with Khafif is an absolute joy as I discover dance and music from all along the Silk Road. Tribal because we are family, Fusion beacause eclectic is beautiful, and Dance because it's more than just about the belly. |
