Autumn hofla

That's right!  Khafif's Autumn Hofla is right around the corner!

Khafif is happy to sponsor a hofla (Middle Eastern music and dance party) for our old friends and our new friends on September 17, 2005.   Bring instruments, jingly coins, drums, and prepare to have fun until the sun rises (or until you want to go to bed).

Christian's Spring Hotel is a historic hotel in the process of renovation.  The hofla will be held outside on the beautiful and spacious grounds, providing lots of room for dancing, a bonfire, and camping crash space.  If the weather is bad, we'll head for the historic barn, whose wood floor was originally designed for square dancing.

A meze table (snacks and drinks) will be provided, with other food and drink available from the inn.

The evening will begin with performances and end with dancing and music-ing the night away!  We already have guests lined up from PA, NJ, and NY, so grab your friends and join us at this fabulous event!

For questions or to reserve crash space, please contact Elizabeth Howard at 724-522-9925.  Email at .

More Information Below

  • First, you are welcome to invite friends and family interested in Middle Eastern music and dance, and children are definitely welcome. There is a stream nearby and a busy road on one edge of the property, so children should be supervised by their parents at all times.
  • Camping is free. If you are interested in staying in more luxurious comfort, there is a Comfort Inn about 10 minutes down the road (intersection of US 22 and Rt. 191, Bethlehem- 610.865.6300, www.comfortbethlehem.com)
  • Christian's Spring Hotel itself is under renovation, and the Hafla will be held outside, on the grounds only. If it rains, we'll be dancing and playing music in the barn. This is a rustic, outdoor event. There will be clean 'port-o-johns' for use during the hafla.  For campers, there may be other amenities available- please write with questions.
  • If you are planning to camp or stay in the barn, please RSVP us if you know in advance! We are getting a great response, and want to make sure we can arrange things so there is enough room for all.
  • For dancers: you will be dancing on flat ground, either on grass or carpet. Nearby, there is a stream with a steep bank, and other less flat areas on the grounds. Comfortable, practical footwear is recommended for everyone attending.
  • Important: we have just a few spaces left for performers, and a few "maybes." If you want to perform but have not committed, please contact us ASAP!
  • The dancing and music will be held on a large flat area of the property, near a stream. There is a hill leading down to this area, which will be an ideal spot for watching the performances. If you would enjoy sitting on the hill, you may want to bring a picnic blanket for sitting, since some nights in September can be cool and dewy. There will be benches and chairs in the flat areas, and near the bonfire.
  • Please contact us with any more questions you may have. We are looking forward to dancing and making music with you all!
